Mr. Wang has taught translation and advanced English in the School of Journalism and Communication of Shanghai International Studies University ever since he obtained his PhD in translation studies from SISU in 2005. He is interested in the research of translation pedagogy, computer-assisted translation, lexicography, and applied translation research. He has published some papers in translation in the past 3 years, coauthored a textbook of English for Advertising, translated two dictionaries jointly with other professors, and has participated in several international seminars on translation and translation education. He attended the XVIII World Congress of the International Federation of Translators in Shanghai in August. Currently he is working on three research programs funded by Shanghai Municipal Government, Shanghai International Studies University and CASIO Inc.
In addition to keen devotion to translation education, Mr. Wang has also been an active practitioner--he has translated hundreds of thousands of words between English and Chinese, serving such clients directly or indirectly as IBM, SAP, National Geographic, and Shanghai Municipal Government.
